The Locations
Zakynthos Town
The capital of the island, situated in the south east, Zakynthos town boasts a large harbour which caters for ferries and cruise ships on a daily basis. The international airport of Zante is just 4 kms away. To cater for an ever increasing number of visitors, however , a new passenger terminal was opened in June 2005. A bustling town with extensive shopping areas, a delightful harbour front promenade, and an abundance of bars, restaurants and tavernas offering superb Greek cuisine including a large range of mouth watering fresh fish.
Tsilivi
10 minutes from Zakynthos town, past the point of Cape Krioneri, brings you to Tilivi and Planos. You will find here the first of a host of lovely beaches which adorn this stretch of coastline from Tsilivi to Alykes. The perfect location for families, with a village atmosphere, plenty of shops, bars and
restaurants, family hotels and a long sandy beach on the crystal clear Mediterranean sea.
Laganas
Situated on the south coast, Laganas is the liveliest town island, with many restaurants, bars and night clubs open until late. And after a heavy night you can relax on the 5 mile long beach, one of the best in Zante, and swim in the safe, shallow waters of the Gulf of Laganas. Away from the golden mile of music and fun there is still plenty of space for families who prefer a quieter setting. Laganas is, after all, the largest breeding ground in Europe for the protected loggerhead turtle.
Lithakia
A couple of kilometres inland from the south coast brings you to the traditional Zantean village of Lithakia. Here you can sample the delights on offer in the tavernas and cafe neons that the locals frequent. The hills rising above Lithakia provide some of the most spectacular views of the coastline and the crystal clear Ionian Sea.
